Neal Jennings & Bonnie Kelley Jennings
Class of '67

I finally got up the nerve to ask for Bonnie’s phone number between third and fourth period of our senior year. When she actually gave it to me, I felt like I floated back to Auto Mechanics class.

That old phrase “float like a butterfly and sting like a bee” was never more true. Seems Mr. Halsey was not at all thrilled with my good fortune and gave me ten licks from the “Board of Education” for being late to class.

We were married on November 19, 1967 while I was home on leave from Marine Corps Basic Training. Our honeymoon was spent at the Ponce DeLeon Resort in St. Augustine and we then moved to Jacksonville, North Carolina as I continued training for an all-expense-paid trip to Southeast Asia in 1968.

We have two children. Travis is now 39 and Kristen will be 35 in May. We have been blessed with six grandchildren, four girls and two boys. I have been duly paid back for my miss-spent youth!
