Marigene Chappell Broward O'Connor passed away peacefully on October 5th at her home in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Born in Tampa, FL on September 20th, 1949 to the late T.E. Chappell Sr. and Sara Houser Chappell, Mrs. O'Connor was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville and its beaches. She retired from Duval County Public Schools after 40 years of dedicated service both as a teacher of mathematics and as an Activities Director. As such, she dedicated her life to serving her students and their families. She is survived by her husband of nearly 20 years, Paul Joseph (PJ); her daughter, Shelley Broward McCarthy (Sean); three grandchildren, Connor, Molly and Duncan; her brother Tom Chappell (Susan); two nephews, Scott (Alyssa) and Alan (Tracy); and numerous other family members and dear friends, including Bas and Jamel, whom she considered as her sons. A service in celebration of Mrs. O'Connor's life will be held on Saturday, October 21st, at 2pm at St. Paul's By the Sea Episcopal Church, 465 11th Ave. N., Jax Beach. Family and friends are invited to share their memories immediately following the service at the home of Shelley & Sean McCarthy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marigene Broward O'Connor Mathematics Excellence Scholarship Fund at Stanton College Preparatory School, mailed to the school at 1149 W. 13th St., Jacksonville, FL 32209.
